About Me

Hello! I'm Erin Betancourt. My husband and I have two sweet daughters which we strive to raise in a Christ-centered home.

I started out intent on "educating my daughters (ages 3 and 1 at the time) in good habits," and the LORD gently made me the student instead. He lead me to understand the prudence of developing a home culture with intentionality, rather than passively. Every habit study mini-unit I made became a lesson for myself in habits, and a kind reminder of God's sovereignty and goodness as each habit of focus (which I typically planned out many months in advance) always was so timely in its application. In the end these "preschool" years became pre-school for ME! Its been an opportunity to prepare myself and my home for LIFE... and for formal academics, once my children reach that age. What a joy and a blessing it has been!

My prayer is that God would use these mini-units, firstly, for His glory in making Himself known through the Word, inlaid in these studies and with the memory verses. And secondly, that families would be encouraged and inspired in their habit formation efforts and family culture development, with an easy and accessible introduction to the Charlotte Mason philosophy.
The Charlotte Mason Philosophy
"Education is a life, an atmosphere, a discipline." - Charlotte Mason

Ms. Mason valued children as whole persons, made in the image of God and so capable, yet in need of guidance and an intentional life education durning their childhood years. A CM education mean providing your child(ren) with a life education through a robust family culture that lays before them a feast for learning. This "feast" naturally incline oneself toward producing a "science of relations" between the things that are observed and experience, most importantly toward our Maker. This feast of learning comes through family culture (what we model), being in nature and observing it, rich "living books" for literature and academics, an exposure to the fine arts, a self-disciplined life through establishing and maintaining good habits and handicrafts - which included not just crafting-activities, but also household chores and outdoor work, all of which is to done in service of others - and most importantly, a pursuit of knowing the LORD, through reading Scripture and the work of the Holy Spirit.
